FuturEnergy Ireland sponsors the annual UCC Law and Environment conference

Many thanks to Professor Owen McIntyre for the warm welcome at The UCC Law and Environment Conference, which FuturEnergy Ireland sponsored.

The theme was ‘Rights, Remedies and Restoration in Environmental and Nature Resources Law’, which led to robust sessions on topics such as renewable energy, climate litigation and biodiversity and the law.

The session on the Legal Framework for Renewable Energy was highly relevant to our business.  Amongst other things it set out the permitting process for renewable energy infrastructure under EU law and the complex challenge of aligning our obligations to meet urgent climate targets and the wider principles of environmental protection.
