Policy, plans and priorities: FuturEnergy Ireland's planning specialist speaks out at the Wind Energy Ireland Conference

Last week, at the Wind Energy Ireland Annual Conference, there was a genuine feeling that change is in the air.
This was especially evident in the final session, Delivering an Effective Planning System, where the expert panel explained the huge amount of evaluation and reform underway in planning policy and legislation.
FuturEnergy Ireland’s Planning Manager, Juliet Ryan, pictured, took part alongside Anne Marie O'Connor (OPR); Lisa Clifford (DHLGH) and David Kelly (SRA), and provided the developer’s perspective by using examples from the portfolio to underpin her message and show how policy, legislation and robust methodologies impact renewable energy projects.

Juliet’s call for action? To simplify policy, develop fit-for-purpose plans and prioritise the national climate objective. And at this pivotal moment in policy reform, as climate targets fast approach, the only way we can achieve this is through genuine collaboration.
