The Government launched Climate Action Plan 2023 on December 21, 2022. This plan sets out the accelerated action needed to be undertaken in Ireland to response to the climate crisis. It also ensures that climate solutions underpin the nation's social and economic developments
The Plan includes the following targets for 2030:
Renewable energy is key to CAP23, which means that targets for wind energy have been set as 6 GW of onshore wind energy by the end of 2025, growing to 9 GW of onshore wind energy by 2030, and at least 7 GW of offshore wind energy by the end of 2030 with 2 GW of that to be used for green hydrogen production.
